KATAJANOKAN LAITURI

Corporate Offices and hotel operations

New flagship of Finnish architecture

Katajanokan Laituri is a building complex that will house the headquarters of Stora Enso and a hotel. It also serves as a meeting place in one of Helsinki’s best locations. The commercial building will be a masterpiece of Finnish timber construction.

The district looks back on centuries of history as a busy hub for port operations and passenger traffic.

Challenges & goals

Blending into the landscape

The aim was to find a solution that combines the requirements of the urban planning framework with landscape, functional, aesthetic, technical and economic interests.

Climate-neutral

One of the most ambitious goals of this project was to construct a climate-neutral office building that uses only energy from renewable sources.

Minimizing the ecological footprint

The appealing architecture aims to minimize the ecological footprint. The Parkstory parking system makes its contribution by minimizing the space required for parking spaces.
